Rupert Quiney will be discussing the biomechanics behind how we make players fast, looking at testing methods used to assess an athlete’s ability to produce force affect their on-ice speed and power.

Rupert Quiney is a former professional ice hockey player turned strength and conditioning coach that now specialises in training British ice hockey players.
He holds an MSc in strength and conditioning and a BSc in sports science (human performance), completing both with distinction and first class honours.
He served as strength and conditioning coach for the Guildford Flames of the Elite League from 2022 to 2024, as well as currently leading the England Ice Hockey strength and conditioning department.
Most recently, Rupert founded Train Hockey Smart, a business dedicated to improving the strength and conditioning provision available in British ice hockey.
Train Hockey Smart opened its first gym at Ozone Ice Rink in 2024.
