New cup competition launched in NIHL South 2

This season, a number of clubs in the NIHL South 2 are playing in a new challenge cup competition, named in honour of a legend of the sport – Eddie Joseph.

Eddie passed away in December 2022, having been the heart and soul of the Lee Valley Lions club for almost 40 years.

He played over 200 games for the original Lions in the 1980s and 90s and was a key figure in the club’s revival in 2005.

The Eddie Joseph Memorial Cup will feature his own Lee Valley Lions, as well as Chelmsford Warriors, Haringey Huskies, Peterborough Phantoms NIHL 2 and Invicta Mustangs.

The sides will play a total of two home games and two away games in a short-ended round robin which runs alongside the regular season schedule.
