Following last weekend’s action, the England Ice Hockey Department of Player Safety (DOPS) have issued the following sanctions:

  • Kohen Taylor (Hull Seahawks) | 1 game suspension after DRS review – Fighting
    • Additional comments: The EIH DOPS team and PINIHL GRP have agreed that the penalty assessed, a 5-minute major, is insufficient for the situation as IHUK in-house rule 46 “equal and willing” does not apply. Fighting, whilst tolerated during game play, is not acceptable between periods and will be penalised.
  • Joe Tomalin (Romford Raiders) | 1 game suspension after DRS review – Fighting
    • Additional comments: The EIH DOPS team and PINIHL GRP have agreed that the penalty assessed, a 5-minute major, is insufficient for the situation as IHUK in-house rule 46 “equal and willing” does not apply. Fighting, whilst tolerated during game play, is not acceptable between periods and will be penalised.
  • Lee Kemp (Nottingham Lions) | 2 game suspension – Fighting
    • Additional comments: Fighting unwilling combatant, instigator and aggressor.
  • Ellis Sheppard (Cardiff Fire) | 1 game suspension – Checking from behind
  • James Mather (Nottingham Lions) | 3 game suspension – Fighting
    • Additional comments: Fighting unwilling combatant, instigator and aggressor. Fighting took place in the last five minutes.
  • Sam Waller (Streatham Redhawks) | 1 game suspension – Fighting
    • Additional comments: Fighting unwilling combatant, instigator and aggressor.
  • David Phillips (Hull Seahawks) | 4 game suspension after DRS review – Illegal check to the head
    • Additional comments: The primary point of contact was shoulder to the head, causing reckless endangerment to the Romford player.
  • David Williams (Bradford Bulldogs) | 6 game suspension – Illegal check to the head
    • Additional comments: Cross check to the back of the helmet, delivered with force. The victim was unaware, and the action recklessly endangered an opponent.
  • Luke Burdon (Billingham Buccaneers) | Mandatory 1 game suspension – Fighting
    • Additional comments: Fighting in the last five minutes of the game.
  • Luke Burdon (Billingham Buccaneers) | 2 game suspension – Fighting an unwilling combatant
    • Additional comments: Player is the instigator and aggressor. He skates some distance to start the fight.

Total: 3 game suspension for Luke Burdon.
