MK Lightning remain top of the Planet Ice NIHL National Division, despite dropping points in Gameweek 7.
Lightning started the weekend with a 3-2 victory over Swindon Wildcats but couldn’t make it a four-pointer as Sheffield Steeldogs got the better of them by the same scoreline on Sunday.
It was a mixed weekend for the Steeldogs, who faced off against Milton Keynes’ nearest challengers Leeds Knights on Saturday and suffered a heavy 7-0 defeat in their Yorkshire derby.
The Knights only played once over the weekend and moved onto 19 points, one behind the league leaders with both now having played 13 games.
The big winners of the weekend were Hull Seahawks, who moved level on points with Leeds after comfortable back-to-back wins against Berkshire Bees, who dropped to 10th in the standings.
Elsewhere, Romford Raiders climbed a place in the standings and moved to fourth after bouncing back from a Saturday night defeat at Solway Sharks with a hard-fought 6-4 win away at Telford Tigers.
It was a difficult weekend for Telford, who fell to the foot of the table after suffering a shootout defeat on the road at Bristol Pitbulls a day earlier.
Bristol went the distance in both of their Gameweek 7 outings but came out on the right side on both occasions, downing Swindon 5-4 at the Link Centre after overtime to end the weekend four points better off.
Swinton did earn a point for their troubles but remain seventh in the standings, two points adrift of Peterborough Phantoms who won their only game of the weekend at home to Solway on Sunday.
