MK Lightning returned to the summit of the Planet Ice NIHL National Division after a big four-point weekend in Gameweek 11.
Lightning were victorious in their top-two clash over Leeds Knights on Saturday, convincingly winning 6-2.
Sunday provided more of a test, however, as they needed a penalty shootout to down Berkshire Bees, after nothing could separate the two in regulation and overtime.
Leeds won their other game of the weekend, beating Peterborough Phantoms 3-1 at home on Sunday. However, they remain a point behind Milton Keynes in the standings.
Sheffield Steeldogs were the only other side to pick up four points this weekend, as they got the better of Swindon Wildcats and Telford Tigers.
The Steeldogs created some space between themselves and Romford Raiders, who split their games this weekend.
Firstly, Romford travelled to Peterborough and came out victorious in a close game which ended 5-4.
They could not complete a perfect weekend on Sunday though, as they fell to defeat in overtime at home to Solway Sharks.
Both of Solway’s games this weekend went beyond regulation, as they were beaten at home by Telford in a shootout, a day before their big win in Romford.
Elsewhere, Bristol Pitbulls avoided falling to the foot of the table after a big 4-3 victory over bottom club Berkshire Bees on Saturday.
And Hull Seahawks’ only game of the weekend ended in defeat, as they were beaten at home by Swindon Wildcats on Sunday.
