Following last weekend’s action, the England Ice Hockey Department of Player Safety (DOPS) have issued the following sanctions:
- George Howe (Swindon Wildcats NIHL 2) | 2 game suspension – Fighting
- Additional comments: Fighting an unwilling opponent. Defending player turtled and aggressor landed several punches.
- Alasdair Barrow (MK Thunder) | 2 game suspension – Fighting
- Additional comments: Fighting an unwilling opponent. Multiple punches delivered to opponent, who was on their knees.
- Jared Vigas (MK Thunder) | 3 game suspension – Illegal check to the head
- Additional comments: Cross-check delivered with excessive force. Point of contact was directly to the head, recklessly endangering the opponent.
- Joseph Llewellyn (Cardiff Fire) | 2 game suspension – Fighting
- Additional comments: Player was the aggressor, fighting two unwilling opponents.
- Joseph Llewellyn (Cardiff Fire) | 2 game suspension – Hitting threshold of 10 penalty points
Total: 4 game suspension for Joseph Llewellyn.
- Bayley Harewood (Bristol Pitbulls) | 2 game suspension after DOPS/GRP review (first game already served on January 5) – Fighting
- Additional comments: Fighting, whilst tolerated during game play, involves equal and willing combatants or a variation of this covered under the rules. It does not cover a player picking up and “body slamming” another to the ice, causing reckless endangerment.
- Sonny Keywood (Solent Junior Devils) | 2 game suspension – Unsportsmanlike conduct
- Cameron Hough (Peterborough Phantoms) | 1 game suspension after DRS review – Hitting threshold of 10 penalty points
- Louis Morgan (Deeside Ducks) | 2 game suspension – Illegal check to the head.
- Additional comments: The player delivered a cross check to his opponent’s head/neck area, recklessly endangering them.
