England to take on Scotland in Under 19 showcase

England and Scotland Under 19s will face off against each other in a double header on next weekend at Showcase 2026 out of iceSheffield.

The two high intensity fixtures offer a benchmark of domestic elite performance with teams some of the leading players across both nations to take to the ice.

The Frank Dempsey Cup Games will take place on Friday 1 May at 19:30, followed by the return match up on Saturday 2 May at 14:30.

On the fixture, Paul Glossop, England coach, commented: “We’re really looking forward to the weekend and the opportunity to face Scotland again in what’s always a fiercely competitive fixture. A number of our returning players still have points to prove after last year’s result, and that adds an extra edge to what is already a great rivalry.

“Our coaching group has a strong understanding of talent both north and south of the border, and we’ve brought together a strong, well-balanced core of players from across the country. It’s a hardworking, highly skilled group, all excited for the challenge of this rival clash, with every player having developed through junior hockey and gained valuable experience at NIHL 2 level and above this season.

“We know Scotland have set the standard over the past two years, and we’re determined to put in the performance needed to break that winning streak.

“It’s also a fantastic opportunity for both teams to showcase themselves in front of GB coaches, which adds even more importance to the occasion. Finally, we’d like to thank the organisers for making this happen during what is a very busy period in the junior hockey calendar.”

Scotland coach, Jamie Thomson, commented: “The return of this fixture has been a fantastic way to round off the season in recent years, and I’m delighted to see it continue to grow in popularity among spectators. It also gives these young players the incredible honour of representing their country.

“This year, Scotland has a very young but highly skilled squad. It’s particularly encouraging to see so many emerging players stepping up, providing a strong foundation for the next three to four years at this level.

“Everyone involved in Scottish ice hockey is looking forward to the games, and we’re equally excited about welcoming England back across the border in 2027.”
