Following last weekend’s action, the England Ice Hockey Department of Player Safety (DOPS) have issued the following sanctions:

  • Jake Stedman (Invicta Mustangs) | 3 game suspension – Fighting
    • Additional comments: Punched a downed opponent, fighting an unwilling combatant and recklessly endangered the opponent. Fighting took place after the final buzzer.
  • Jake Stedman (Invicta Mustangs) | 2 game suspension – Hitting threshold of 10 penalty points
  • Jake Stedman (Invicta Mustangs) | 1 game suspension – High sticking

Total: 6 game suspension for Jake Stedman.

  • Luka Ferrara (Peterborough Phantoms | 3 game suspension – Checking from behind
    • Additional comments: Opponent was placed in a vulnerable position and recklessly endangered.
  • Calumn Perella-Fox (Solent Devils) | 1 game suspension – Illegal check to the head
    • Additional comments: Point of contact was a fist to the back of the head. Opposition player was unable to defend himself.
  • Matthew Keeley (Billingham Buccaneers) | 3 game suspension – Checking from behind
    • Additional comments: Player was unaware of impending hit, left in a vulnerable position and unable to protect himself.
  • Simon Geldart (Billingham Buccaneers) | 1 game suspension – Slashing
    • Additional comments: Aggressive two-handed slash, delivered with force at the end of the game.
  • Joshua Freeman (Lee Valley Lions) | 2 game suspension after DRS review – Checking from behind
    • Additional comments: Checking from behind used excessive force when the player’s number was clearly visible. Player recklessly endangered his opponent, who was in a vulnerable position.
  • Joshua Freeman (Lee Valley Lions) | 2 game suspension – Hitting threshold of 10 penalty points

Total: 4 game suspension for Joshua Freeman.

  • Taylor Romeo (Peterborough Phantoms NIHL 2) | 1 game suspension after DRS review – Cross-checking
  • Edward Gibson (Invicta Mustangs) | 3 game suspension after DRS review – Checking from behind
    • Additional comments: The player was unaware of the hit. An injury was sustained and supported by an injury report form.
