Following last weekend’s action, the England Ice Hockey Department of Player Safety (DOPS) have issued the following sanctions:
Marcus Mitchell (Slough Jets) | 1 game suspension – Fighting
Rhys Edwards (Deeside Dragons) | 2 game suspension – Checking from behind
Additional comments: Opponent was in a vulnerable position and unaware of the hit.
Evan Coles (Nottingham Lions) | 1 game suspension – Slashing
Luke Martin (Haringey Huskies) | 10 game suspension – Fighting
Additional comments: Multiple punches were aimed at a downed opponent who was not in a position to defend himself. The opponent was in a vulnerable position, and the action caused reckless endangerment. Player skated the width of the ice surface to engage his opponent. An additional mandatory 1 match suspension has been added to the suspension for fighting in the last five minutes of a match.
Peter Toth (Haringey Huskies) | 1 game suspension – Fighting
Jack Sansby (Peterborough Phantoms NIHL 2) | 1 game suspension – Fighting
Jordan Ho (Peterborough Phantoms NIHL 2) | 1 game suspension – Fighting
Jordan Bloom (Coventry NIHL Blaze) | 2 game suspension – Clipping
Additional comments: The Coventry player makes primary contact with the opponent’s leg, spinning him.
