Following last weekend’s action, the England Ice Hockey Department of Player Safety (DOPS) have issued the following sanctions:
- Nathan Bennett (Widnes Wild) | 5 game suspension – 3 games for cross-checking, 1 game for fighting and 1 game for exceeding 10 penalty points
- Additional comments: For the cross-checking charge, the player delivered the action with force, breaking his stick and recklessly endangering the opponent.
- Brittany Stoneman (Chelmsford Cobras) | 1 game suspension – Fighting
- Erin Russell (MK Falcons) | 1 game suspension – Unsportsmanlike conduct
- Ruby Allen (MK Falcons) | 4 game suspension – 1 game for fighting, 1 game for exceeding 10 penalty points and 2 games for exceeding 15 penalty points
- Owen Davis (Nottingham Lions NIHL 2) | 3 game suspension – Fighting
- Additional comments: Two games of the ban are for a sucker punch from behind to the head, with a further one match for fighting after the final buzzer.
- Kyle Tompkins (Nottingham Lions NIHL 2) | 1 game suspension – Fighting
- Cameron Kushnirenko (Deeside Dragons) | 2 game suspension – Unsportsmanlike conduct
- James White (Peterborough Phantoms 2) | 3 game suspension – Slashing
- Additional comments: Penalty assess after DRS review. With both hands on his stick, the player strikes upwards between his opponent’s legs using the blade or toe of the stick. The contact causes a noticeable lift of the opponent’s body and his stick, who then collapses to the ice clutching his groin.
- Rhys Howells (Deeside Dragons NIHL 2) | 3 game suspension – 2 games for fighting and 1 game for exceeding 10 penalty points
- Additional comments: Player instigated an altercation after the final buzzer.
