Following last weekend’s action, the England Ice Hockey Department of Player Safety (DOPS) have issued the following sanctions:
- Devids Jurinenoks (Blackburn Hawks) | 1 game suspension – Fighting
- Additional comments: Fighting unwilling combatant, instigator and aggressor.
- Kieran Brown (Leeds Knights) | 2 game suspension – Illegal check to the head
- Additional comments: The checking player from Leeds makes contact with the body of Hull’s player near the boards. As he does, his shoulder and elbow are also raised, making contact with the neck and head of the opponent. As such, this meets the requirements of Rule 48.3: “illegal check to the head” causing reckless endangerment.
- Grant Bartlett (Chelmsford Chieftains) | 5 game suspension (two suspended pending no further instances of this nature before the end of the 2024/25 season) – Fighting
- Additional comments: Fighting unwilling combatant, instigator and aggressor. Injury sustained by opponent supported by the injury report form.
- Emil Svec (Hull Seahawks) | 1 game suspension – Checking from behind
- Additional comments: The checking player from Hull checks the Leeds player from behind, with the arms being extended and throwing the player forward into the boards, causing reckless endangerment.
- Julian Smith (MK Thunder) | 2 game suspension – Illegal check to the head
- Additional comments: Point of contact was directly to the head/neck area.
- Mark Austen (MK Thunder) | 2 game suspension – Illegal check to the head
- Additional comments: Point of contact was directly to the head, delivered with speed.
