Following last weekend’s action, the England Ice Hockey Department of Player Safety (DOPS) have issued the following sanctions:
- Jasper Quinn (Cardiff Fire) | 4 game suspension – Boarding
- Additional comments: Player thrown heavily into the boards and placed in a vulnerable position. Action recklessly endangered opponent, with an injury sustained.
- Mark Pitts (Solent Devils) | 5 game suspension (two suspended pending no further instances of this nature before the end of the 2024/25 season) – Unsportsmanlike conduct
- Additional comments: Verbal abuse, reported by officials. Intent to goad opposition player into a fight.
- Johnny Corneil (Hull Seahawks) | 3 game suspension following DRS review – Illegal check to the head
- Additional comments: Player chases a puck along the board towards the blue line. Sheffield player had gained control of the puck, and Hull plyer elevates his shoulder and arm and makes contact with the Sheffield player in the head. This is the primary point of contact, and the action was both reckless and caused endangerment.
- Henry Adams (Sheffield Steeldogs) | 3 game suspension following DRS review – Clipping
- Additional comments: The check by the Sheffield player was a mistimed hip check. This check was a low hit or “clip”, causing an injury to the Telford player for which an injury report form has been received. Such assessment of reckless endangerment shall be based on the severity of the infraction, severity of the contact, the degree of violence and the general reprehensibility involved.
- Dylan Harcourt (Leeds Knights NIHL 2) | 2 game suspension – Illegal check to the head
- Justin Dennison (Sheffield Scimitars) | 5 game suspension – Boarding
- Additional comments: Opponent thrown heavily into Boards. High point of contact, recklessly endangering the opponent, Injury sustained and supported by injury report form.
- Shaun Galloway (Billingham Stars) | 2 game suspension – Fighting
- Additional comments: Sucker punch. Opponent unaware of the hit.
- Joel Bark (Bradford Bulldogs) | 2 game suspension – Boarding
- Additional comments: The player approached with speed and violently hit his opponent into the boards. This recklessly endangered his opponent, who was in a vulnerable position.
