England Ice Hockey confirms third annual Pride Week

England Ice Hockey is excited to announce that the third annual Pride Week will take place from 19-28 January 2024.

Pride Week presents an opportunity for the EIHA and the affiliated clubs to highlight, embrace and celebrate the diversity of human beings. It provides everyone in the sport the chance to demonstrate their support and inclusion of people from all walks of life, no matter their gender or sexual orientation.

This year, we are inviting junior clubs, as well as NIHL and WNIHL clubs, to take part in Pride Week.

Clubs can designate their individual Pride Night games, use colourful stick tape and skate laces, and are encouraged support the cause even in away games and training sessions.

The commitment from clubs in previous years has been excellent, and saw dedicated pride-themed jerseys being created, games played using pride pucks, and clubs hosting LGBTQ+ charities and performers during their Pride Nights.

The EIHA is determined to show a commitment toward greater inclusivity and acceptance in the ice hockey. Despite progress, there’s still a considerable distance to cover in creating a fully inclusive environment for LGBTQ+ individuals within hockey. We aim to emphasise the need for continuous support, education, and advocacy to ensure that all players and fans feel respected and welcomed.

We will be announcing more information about Pride Week 2024 in the coming weeks, and encourage fans to look out for club announcements about special arrangements they will be making for their own Pride Night.
