As the national team programmes for both England Ice Hockey and Scottish Ice Hockey are in full swing, both organisations are working closely to put on a winter programme to help coaches with their selections towards travelling teams for both nations.
To help with this, we have joined forces to create a round robin event of games, which we are inviting players to participate from December 27-30 at iceSheffield.
England coaches will be selecting Team Red and Team White, to play against each other as well as Scotland for four full-length games over two days.
All games will be live streamed using the England Ice Hockey YouTube channel. Spectators will also be able to attend for free.
We will be looking to work with Hudl/Instat so all players will received individual statistical/video analysis, as per the previous Showcase event, as well as comprehensive feedback for our coaches to aid the selection process.
Ben Pitchley, general manager of the Elite Player Pathway, said: “As Ice Hockey UK recently announced, our national programmes are working closer with each other, not only for their own nations, but also for the bigger picture, which is pushing our elite players towards the GB pathway.
“Working with Jamie Thomson and the team from Scottish Ice Hockey creates opportunities for our best players to play in competitive games, whilst also helping our coaches with watching the players prior to finalising our teams for participating in tournaments in the spring.”
Jamie Thomson, SIH head of hockey operations, said: “Over the last few years, it’s been a breath of fresh air dealing with Ben and the team at EIH.
“These events have gone from strength to strength and are allowing us to accelerate the development of our players. With more to come this season and beyond, the team at SIH are fully committed to working together and ensuring we put as many joint events on as possible.”
We will announce schedules and teams closer to the event, and look forward to seeing you there.
