WNIHL side Kingston Diamonds will proudly celebrate their 1,000th league game this Sunday.
After 35 years of existence, they will reach the milestone when the puck drops for their WNIHL Elite fixture against Solihull Vixens.
This is without doubt a massive achievement for a club which has grown from one team and 16 players to multiple teams with over 70 players, competing in four leagues within the women’s game.
Sunday will be celebration of hockey at the Hull Ice Arena, with the Diamonds facing Sheffield Shadows in the WNIHL 1 North at 12:30pm before the puck drops at 5pm for game 1,000 as the WNIHL Elite Diamonds take centre stage.
Head coach Tim Healand said: “I am really proud that our club has grown into one of the biggest in the country, and one that has been developing players for over three decades. We have players who have travelled and played all over the world.
“I would like to thank the dedication of all the coaches, managers, players, and most importantly the parents, who have supported and helped us develop a great positive club.
“I would also like to thank all our sponsors, old and new, as they have played a big part in our successes.”
Sunday’s games are free to attend and can also be streamed on the club’s official YouTube channel.
