MK Lightning have a chance to extend their lead at the top of the Planet Ice NIHL National Division, in the final gameweek before Christmas.

Lightning, who currently hold top spot due to their superior head-to-head record against the second-placed Leeds Knights, are in action twice during Gameweek 15.

They face third-placed Swindon Wildcats in a mouth-watering double-header this weekend. Swindon could cut the gap between themselves and the top two to one point if they pick up consecutive wins.

Due to commitments in the NIHL Cup semi-finals on Friday night, Leeds Knights are only in action once this weekend, as they travel to Hull Seahawks in a local derby on Sunday.

Sheffield Steeldogs will host Telford Tigers on Saturday, following their first leg cup trip to Leeds the night before.

Elsewhere, Romford Raiders will be hoping to end their four-game winless run in the league when they take on Bristol Pitbulls twice this weekend.

Recent results have seen the Pitbulls drop to seventh in the standings.

Bottom-of-the-table Berkshire Bees will be aiming to win their first game in over a month during their double-header against Peterborough Phantoms.

Peterborough come into this gameweek in good form, however, winning four of their last five.

The Phantoms will be confident of remaining in the top four going into Christmas but know that negative results could see them drop down the division.

Finally, Solway Sharks will be looking to put some distance between themselves and the rest of the chasing pack in the race for the playoffs.

The Sharks host Hull on Saturday, before travelling to ninth-placed Telford the following day.
