A double-header between the top two in the Planet Ice NIHL National Division beckons this weekend, with fireworks expected in Gameweek 22.

MK Lightning retained top spot last weekend as both they and nearest challengers Leeds Knights picked up maximum points. The pair face off on Saturday in Milton Keynes, with the return fixture in West Yorkshire coming less than 24 hours after.

Below them, third-placed Swindon Wildcats will look to fend off the chasing pack as they host Solway Sharks in their only game of the weekend.

Having only picked up one point from a possible four last week, the Wildcats will be hoping that home comforts can see them back to winning ways.

Meanwhile, Hull Seahawks are in action against Romford Raiders and Peterborough Phantoms, both of whom find themselves firmly in the running for playoff hockey.

The Seahawks are another who only secured one point last week and would dearly love to re-discover the form which saw them win four of their previous five matches prior to last weekend.

Another top-eight battle will see Romford host Sheffield Steeldogs on Sunday night, in the visitors’ only game of the weekend.

Other intriguing match-ups towards the foot of the table include Solway’s trip to Bristol on Saturday night, and Berkshire Bees’ double-header against Telford Tigers.

Berkshire have already played once during the current gameweek, losing 6-0 to Peterborough on Thursday, in a match which saw the Phantoms move to within a point of fifth-placed Sheffield in the standings.
