NIHL round-up | January 17-19

Two wins out of three this weekend for Leeds Knights saw them return to the summit of the Planet Ice NIHL National Division.

Leeds opened the weekend on Friday night with a 6-1 victory over Sheffield Steeldogs in their Yorkshire derby. Despite falling to Swindon Wildcats on Saturday, they bounced back with a win over bottom club Berkshire Bees the following day.

Four points were enough to see the Knights climb to the top of the table, after previous leaders MK Lightning were beaten in their only game of the weekend away at Sheffield Steeldogs on Saturday.

A four-point weekend for Swindon saw them cement their place in the top three. Victory at Telford Tigers on Sunday, paired with a big 5-1 win over Leeds at the Link Centre the day prior, saw them move to within one point of top spot.

Elsewhere, Peterborough Phantoms secured a four-point weekend of their own, thanks to wins over Hull Seahawks and Solway Sharks.

Telford climbed into ninth after they were victorious over Berkshire Bees on Saturday, paired with a couple of defeats for Bristol Pitbulls against Solway and Sheffield during Gameweek 19.

And Romford Raiders were beaten in their only game this weekend, as Hull bounced back from their defeat to Peterborough on Saturday with a 6-2 win in East London.
