Congratulations to Manchester Storm’s Helen Vanek, who has been chosen as our England Ice Hockey Volunteer of the Month for August!
Helen manages the Storm U12s side and has been commended by multiple individuals at the club for her willingness to go above and beyond to assist the growth of the sport in any way she can.
She has supported the next generation of coaches at her club by offering to train new assistant managers, and continues to help out other age group teams when required.
Not only that, as a medical professional, she has taken time to create ‘stop the bleed’ training for all club officials and parents, and also ran sessions at other clubs to help ensure the safety of participants across her local area.
Helen is a proud advocate of the England National Team Programme (ENTP) and has travelled with the England Girls U13s team previously.
For many seasons, she has shown a real passion for making her club and the sport a better place, and she is a real asset to Manchester Storm Academy – a point which many of her nominees were keen to stress.
Know a volunteer at your club who always goes above and beyond?
Now’s the chance to give them the praise they have always deserved, thanks to our Volunteer of the Month initiative.
All clubs are invited to nominate the unsung heroes of our ice hockey community, who will be celebrated for their dedication and invaluable contributions to the sport.
