Young Deeside netminder shortlisted for community award

There is cause for celebration at Deeside Dragons Junior Ice Hockey Club, after one of their U10s players was shortlisted for Young Person of the Year ahead of their local council’s awards.

Seven-year-old Noah Potter, who has played his hockey as a Deeside netminder for the last year, has been nominated ahead of the Dudley Borough Community Awards, which will be held on Thursday 21 November.

The awards seek to celebrate all the wonderful things happening across the Dudley area, and to shine a light on the region and its many success stories.

Young netminder Noah has been put forward for an award having grown hugely as an ice hockey player over the last few years.

Noah started his journey as a hockey goalkeeper when he was accepted onto the England Ice Hockey Netminder Development Programme.

The programme, in collaboration with Puck Stop and Bauer, allowed Noah to try the position safely and give him the best possible introduction to the position, without the need for his parents to spend money in the first instance on netminder kit.

He has also featured for our Mites team and was previously included in the ENTP’s goalie programme, demonstrating his newfound aptitude for the position.

Ahead of next month’s Dudley Borough Community Awards, we would like to congratulate Noah on being shortlisted, and wish him well for his future success in the sport.
