The England National Team Programme (ENTP) have just managed to source additional ice at iceSheffield on Friday 19 January, where we are looking to put on a “This Girl Can” event, to train alongside the ENTP camp we have running the same day.
This will be open to girls who have not previously been part of our U15s or U13s national programme and can include girls who were released from the process at trials this season.
Current ENTP girls coaches will be leading this event, and putting the girls through their paces.
Reg Wilcox, ENTP girls head coach and GB U16s head coach, said: “The upcoming event will be a great opportunity for young female players to come and enjoy a day in a national team environment.
“With our GB teams performing well on the international stage, this is a good time to see our next generation of players learn to love our sport and prove “This Girl Can”!
It’s a full-on day and will give the girls valuable insight into what’s required to compete for a national team spot, in the future.
Martin Peters, director for the Elite Player Pathway, said: “After the recent success of Mighty Mites Winter Classic, The ENTP team has worked well with iceSheffield to enable us to create this event to give girls the opportunity to enjoy the training experience like our current ENTP teams do.
“Hopefully, our coaches can use this to help identify future players for our programmes by working on this event and support the girls.”
The event will commence on 19 January and is open to 40 players plus Netminders.
