A second consecutive perfect four-point weekend helped Leeds Knights further cement their place at the top of the Planet Ice NIHL National Division standings in Gameweek 9.

The Knights were victorious over the then second-placed Sheffield Steeldogs in a Yorkshire derby on Saturday, before defeating Swindon Wildcats at home in a tight 5-4 affair to extend their current winning run to five games.

Leeds now have a definitive hold on the top of the division, after MKs Lightning split their games yet again this weekend.

They lost an overtime clash with Peterborough Phantoms on Saturday, but bounced back in East Yorkshire on Sunday, defeating Hull Seahawks 9-5 to maintain second place in the standings.

Four teams are tied on 22 points below Milton Keynes’ 25.

Romford Raiders won their only game of the weekend against Sheffield Steeldogs on Sunday, running out 6-3 winners on home ice to climb to third in the table.

Sheffield weren’t the only team in the chasing pack to go winless this weekend, as Hull Seahawks also suffered back-to-back defeats against Swindon Wildcats in overtime then MK Lightning the following day.

Meanwhile, Peterborough Phantoms had a perfect weekend, defeating Bristol Pitbulls at home 24 hours after downing Milton Keynes in overtime.

Towards the foot of the table, the back-to-back fixtures between the bottom two clubs in the division saw Telford Tigers win twice against Berkshire Bees, leapfrogging them, Solway and Bristol in the table.

And in the only other game of the weekend, the Pitbulls picked up a big 2-1 win over Solway Sharks on Saturday.
