Nick Cross to step down as EIH chair

Due to work commitments, England Ice Hockey can confirm that Nick Cross will step down as chair of the board.

During Nick’s tenure as chair, EIH has embarked on a transformational journey which has set the foundations for future success across the sport.

The organisation has brought in its first chief executive officer (Henry Staelens) and chief operating & development officer (Grant King) to ensure clear leadership at executive-level, as well as a hardened-focus on governance, finance and transparency at board level.

However, due to Nick relocating to the USA in early 2025, he is no longer in a position to stand as chair.

Nick Cross said: “In my first meeting as chair of EIH, I shared a vision for the role of the board, which was to implement the strategy, governance, and direction of the organisation, whilst empowering a CEO to be accountable for the day-to-day operations of the business.

“I am very pleased that during my time we have achieved all of these key targets, and I am excited to see how the organisation continues to evolve on these strong foundations.

“These foundations will allow EIH to focus on the next phase of transformation, the evolution and development of the game on the ice”.

Duncan Hough, vice-chair of EIH, said: “We thank Nick for his time and passion for beginning to transform EIH into the organisation it needs to be, and that the members deserve.

“We will continue this trajectory over the coming years, and will always appreciate the time Nick spent as chair”.

England Ice Hockey will release further information regarding recruitment for the chair role in due course.
