Introduction
England Ice Hockey proudly serves as the National Governing Body for ice hockey in England and Wales — a sport with deep roots in our nations and a legacy that dates back to the early 20th century. In fact, Britain helped shape the global game as a founding member of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) in 1908.
Today, England Ice Hockey is at the heart of the sport’s growth and development — from energising grassroots participation to nurturing elite talent through the England pathway and feeding future medallists into Team GB. With a thriving community of over 450 clubs and 10,000 registered players, coaches, and officials, the sport continues to go from strength to strength.
Our reach extends far beyond the ice. Through dynamic programmes and meaningful community engagement, we’re making a real impact across the country. We’re also leading the way in coach and official development, while upholding the highest standards in safeguarding, welfare, and compliance, ensuring the sport remains a safe, inclusive, and inspiring space for everyone involved.
Regional NIHL Lead
The role of the Regional NIHL Lead is pivotal in ensuring the smooth operation and development of senior ice hockey within England and Wales. This position involves promoting the EIH’s best practice guidance and codes of conduct within the region’s clubs, maintaining appropriate records, and representing the regional NIHL clubs at committee meetings. The Regional NIHL Lead is responsible for providing effective leadership and management to the region’s NIHL teams, ensuring transparency in the senior structure and responsibilities to meet the needs of the region’s senior teams. Additionally, the role requires collaboration with the EIH Director and GM and assistant GM to promote and fulfil all EIH needs.
