Following last weekend’s action, the England Ice Hockey Department of Player Safety (DOPS) have issued the following sanctions:

• Elliot Lewis (Bristol Pitbulls) | 1 game suspension after PINIHL GRP (served on January 12) – Illegal check to the head
  • Additional comments: Due to play moving around the boards in the corner, both players adjusted their position to play the puck and make a hit. The Bristol player’s body connects with the head of the Leeds player first, which is then contacted with the boards. This contact was not targeted and the head was not picked.
    
• Ethan Hehir (Leeds Knights) | Mandatory 1 game suspension – Fighting
  • Additional comments: Fighting in the last five minutes of the game.
• Mason Lipsey (Bristol Pitbulls) | Mandatory 1 game suspension – Fighting
  • Additional comments: Fighting in the last five minutes of the game.
• Marcus Mitchell (Berkshire Bees) | 2 game suspension after DRS review – Slashing
  • Additional comments: The slash makes contact around the hand area of the opponent, some of which was unprotected, and was delivered with sufficient force to break the offending player’s stick, causing reckless endangerment.
• Damarni James (Widnes Wild) | 3 game suspension – Illegal check to the head
  • Additional comments: Point of contact was the head, recklessly endangering the opponent.
• Damarni James (Widnes Wild) | 3 game suspension – Hitting threshold of 15 penalty points

Total: 6 game suspension for Damarni James.

• Kristian Pelling (Sheffield Scimitars) | 2 game suspension – Checking from behind
• Karl Bacon (Deeside Dragons) | 3 game suspension – Illegal check to the head.
  • Additional comments: Opponent’s head hits the board, recklessly endangering them.
• Dean Holland (Whitley Warriors) | 2 game suspension – Unsportsmanlike conduct
  • Additional comments: Player made physical contact with opposition team official on the bench.
• Billy King (Altrincham Aces) | 2 game suspension – Illegal check to the head
  • Additional comments: The player delivered multiple cross checks to his opponent’s head area while he was turned away, recklessly endangering him and leaving him unable to protect himself.
• Jake Stedman (Invicta Mustangs) | 2 game suspension – Charging
  • Additional comments: Player skated at speed through two zones, and made no attempt to play the puck or slow down.
• Jake Stedman (Invicta Mustangs) | 3 game suspension – Hitting threshold of 15 penalty points

Total: 5 game suspension for Jake Stedman.

• Jarvis Mewett (Invicta Mustangs) | 3 game suspension – Illegal check to the head
  • Additional comments: Point of contact was the head. The check was made with a level of force and lacked the intent to control the check at a safe height.
• Jarvis Mewett (Invicta Mustangs) | 2 game suspension – Hitting threshold of 10 penalty points

Total: 5 game suspension for Jarvis Mewett.

• Jed Sherrington (Guildford Phoenix) | 1 game suspension – Boarding
  • Additional comments: Both players were going for the puck and the Haringey player hit the boards head first, causing injury.
• Sam Austin (Chelmsford Warriors) | 2 game suspension – Fighting
  • Additional comments: Fighting unwilling combatant. Multiple punches were thrown during the last five minutes of the game.
