England Ice Hockey is pleased to announce the 2026 coaching course schedule for both Level 1 and Level 2 qualifications.
These programmes are designed to help new and developing coaches build the knowledge, confidence and practical skills needed to support players at all levels of the game.
The Level 1 Coaching Course prepares aspiring coaches to deliver safe, structured and effective coaching sessions.
It is ideal for those beginning their coaching journey and looking to support club coaching under the guidance of more experienced coaches.
2026 Level 1 course dates
Upon completion, Level 1 coaches will be able to assist in the delivery of coaching sessions under direct supervision, lead activities planned by a Level 2 coach or above, and contribute to post‑session reviews and evaluations.
Applicants must be at least 16 years old, be competent skaters, communicate effectively in English, have a good working knowledge of ice hockey rules and coaching terminology, and have access to a practical coaching environment for the assessment period.
The Level 2 Coaching Course is designed for coaches who are ready to take the next step in their development.
This programme strengthens planning and leadership skills, enabling coaches to confidently lead progressive training sessions, support player development, and mentor Level 1 coaches within a club setting.
2026 Level 2 course dates
Participants will learn how to deliver structured, progressive coaching sessions, plan effectively to meet the needs of their players, and ensure safe, purposeful activity on the ice.
This course also helps coaches develop leadership qualities to support and guide developing coaches within their clubs.
To join the course, applicants must be 18 or older on the first day, accepted onto the acceleration programme, have submitted their completed Level 1 portfolio to peter.winn@englandicehockey.com, have logged a minimum of 50 hours of coaching verified by a club team coach, and be registered as an EIH Level 1 coach or Temporary Level 2 coach.
It is recommended that participants have a strong understanding of the game, knowledge of rules and officiating principles and familiarity with coaching terminology and core coaching concepts.
Spaces across all venues are limited, and early booking is strongly encouraged.
This is an excellent opportunity to progress your coaching journey with England Ice Hockey and contribute to the future development of our sport.
