There’s lots to look forward to in league and cup as we prepare for another weekend of enthralling action in the Planet Ice NIHL National Division and below, starting on Friday night.
A huge National Cup semi-final second leg will get things underway, with the table-topping Leeds Knights hope to overturn a one-goal deficit and book their place in the final, at the expense of the red-hot Hull Seahawks.
The Seahawks, who have picked up maximum points on each of the last three weekends, won 4-3 in the first leg on Wednesday night and will be hoping to produce another big performance to advance in the cup.
Both contenders will play twice over the weekend, with the Knights welcoming Raiders IHC to Planet Ice Leeds on Saturday before Hull host Bristol Pitbulls the following day.
Elsewhere near the top of the league table, MK Lightning will face Solway Sharks then Peterborough Phantoms – who they beat convincingly in the league last weekend.
It will be another home double gameweek for Swindon Wildcats as the Phantoms and Raiders IHC visit the Link Centre, while Telford Tigers will look to put some pressure on the top five as they face Bristol and Solway – both of whom are below them in the standings.
There is one back-to-back encounter this weekend, and four big competition points are on the line as Bees IHC lock horns with Sheffield Steeldogs.
It has been tough going of late for the Steeldogs, who have lost 10 of their last 11 matches. Bees IHC, meanwhile, have lost their last four – although two of those defeats came after the scores were level at the end of regulation time.
