A bumper weekend of hockey beckons in the Planet Ice NIHL National Division, with a showdown between title challengers Leeds Knights and Swindon Wildcats headlining the latest round of fixtures.

The battle between second and third comes on Sunday evening, nearly 48 hours after the Knights kick off Gameweek 21 with a Yorkshire derby away at Sheffield Steeldogs on Friday night.

Swindon, who climbed up to second last weekend after picking up three points from a possible four, welcome Berkshire Bees to the Link Centre in their only other outing of the weekend.

League leaders MK Lightning also play another of the division’s top sides, visiting fourth-placed Hull Seahawks on Sunday after a home game against Solway Sharks the night before.

Hot on the Seahawks’ heels are Peterborough Phantoms. They host Romford Raiders on Saturday before travelling to Telford Tigers, who were beaten twice last weekend.

Sheffield Steeldogs, another side firmly in the hunt for playoff hockey, are in action three times this weekend. Following their Friday night clash with the Knights, they host Hull on Saturday before travelling south to Berkshire Bees on Sunday.

The two teams immediately below the Steeldogs, Romford and Solway, meet on Sunday evening.

Telford will have a key eye on that fixture as they aim to bridge the five-point gap to the top eight, having picked up five points from their six matches since the turn of the year.

The Tigers’ opening game of the weekend comes at Bristol Pitbulls, who are only in action once during Gameweek 21.
