A four-point weekend helped Leeds Knights strengthen their grip on top spot in the Planet Ice NIHL National Division.
Friday evening saw the Knights kick off the hockey weekend with a resounding 5-1 home win over Telford Tigers, before backing it up with a a 7-4 win at Bristol Pitbulls the following day.
They now sit five points clear of MK Lightning, whose own weekend began on Friday with a 3-2 defeat at Swindon Wildcats in the first leg of their National Cup semi-final.
Lightning bounced back on Saturday with an 8-5 win over Raiders IHC on Saturday before losing the return game 3-2 in Romford less than 24 hours later.
Meanwhile, the third-placed Wildcats ensured it would be a clean sweep for them over the weekend, backing up their cup semi-final first leg triumph with 3-0 and 3-1 wins home and away against Telford.
Below them, Peterborough Phantoms made no mistake on home soil by overcoming the Pitbulls 7-3 on Sunday evening, in their only match of the gameweek.
Hull Seahawks remain fifth, and level with the Phantoms, after claiming maximum points over the weekend.
A 6-5 overtime triumph at home to Bees IHC was backed up by a shootout win against the same team the following day, moving the Seahawks onto 41 points in the National Division standings.
Away wins were the order of the weekend in Sheffield Steeldogs and Solway Sharks’ double-header. The Sharks won 3-1 in South Yorkshire on Saturday before falling to a 4-2 defeat on home soil the following day.
