A hat-trick of victories last week for Leeds Knights helped them consolidate their place atop the Planet Ice NIHL National Division. 

They backed up Thursday’s 3-1 win over Hull Seahawks with an 8-0 triumph at Bristol Pitbulls on Saturday, before running out 5-2 winners at home to Raiders IHC the following day.

They sit eight points clear at the top of the standings after nearest challengers MK Lightning endured a mixed weekend.

Having overcome the Seahawks 5-2 on Saturday, they couldn’t make it a perfect four-point weekend as Telford Tigers defeated Lightning 3-2 in the final NIHL National Division fixture of the weekend.

One frontrunner that did enjoy a perfect weekend was Swindon Wildcats. They won 5-4 at home to Telford on Saturday evening before running out 2-0 victors at Bees IHC the following day.

There was also a perfect weekend for fifth-placed Peterborough Phantoms, while the side above them, Hull, ensured their weekend would end on a positive note by defeating Solway Sharks 5-4.

Meanwhile, Raiders IHC gave their top-eight hopes a major boost by beating Solway 5-3 in Dumfries on Saturday. They now sit on 39 points in the league standings, two above Bees IHC and the Sharks.

Below the NIHL National Division, there was silverware up for grabs across the board as several teams battled it out to be crowned cup champions of their respective leagues.
