On Saturday 5 October, players and staff from the Sheffield Steelkings para ice hockey club, including one player with a below-the-knee amputation, will be raising money for the club by walking up Ben Nevis, the highest peak in the UK.
This is not an ordinary stroll, however. The challenging mission will also be undertaken whilst wearing full ice hockey kit.
The funds will be used to help pay for the cost of ice, to keep the team training regularly. Donations can be made by clicking here.
Jake Oakley, Sheffield Steelkings chairman and head coach, said: “This is the second time we have attempted a challenge like this after doing a trek up Snowdon four years ago.
“It just goes to show that hockey is a family sport, and our family members are willing to go to any lengths to make sure the club stays well funded and our disabled athletes can continue to play and train.”
