Volunteer of the Month: Christi Hodge

We’d like to congratulate Streatham Youth Ice Hockey Club’s Christi Hodge, who has been chosen as our England Ice Hockey Volunteer of the Month for January.

Christi wears multiple hats at Streatham and has been commended for consistently going above and beyond to ensure the growth of the club across its various age groups.

After the Covid-19 pandemic, she worked tirelessly to ensure the club was able to survive when numbers were low, even persuading parents to get involved and take their first steps into coaching.

By putting the interest of their young players first, Christi has managed to foster a culture of inclusivity and enjoyment which has enabled Streatham to thrive during recent years – they are now at a point where some of their age group teams are at full capacity.

She is involved with various aspects of the club’s day-to-day operations, from recruitment and arranging camps/friendlies to ensuring jerseys are ready for a game day and that everything runs smoothly at each fixture.

All this, she does with a smile on her face. As one nominee explains so perfectly: “Christi is our club”.
