Volunteer of the Month: David Potter

We’d like to congratulate David Potter, who has been chosen as the July winner of our England Ice Hockey Volunteer of the Month competition!

David founded Cambridge Grizzlies Junior Ice Hockey Club back in 2022 and has devoted a lot of time towards developing the pathway for young players in Cambridge and the surrounding areas.

He has been commended for instilling a positive attitude in all of the players he coaches, and it is thanks to the tireless dedication of David that the club has continued to grow.

Last season, they fielded teams at U12 and U14 level in the NIHL junior leagues. They also operate an U10s side, providing a range of opportunities for young sportspeople to take their first steps into ice hockey.

Nominees have praised David for going above and beyond to make practice sessions and matches an enjoyable experience for all involved.

Through the formation of Cambridge Grizzlies, and thanks to David’s guidance, young players at the club have developed as people as well as players.

Furthermore, by providing opportunities to engage with the sport at a junior level, David has been able to transfer his passion for the sport onto the next generation.
