Volunteer of the Month: Nicola Cole

We’d like to take a moment to congratulate Nicola Cole, who has been chosen as our England Ice Hockey Volunteer of the Month for September.

Nicola has been heavily involved with hockey in Coventry for a number of years, volunteering as team manager for Coventry Phoenix Women’s Ice Hockey Club and Coventry Blaze Junior Ice Hockey Academy.

Nicola first got involved in hockey when her children Ellie-Jo and Freddie started playing, and since then has given a huge amount of her personal time to support hockey at all levels of the game.

She spends most weeks at the rink – usually on the players’ bench, timekeeper’s bench or in the changing rooms! – and is well known for her no-nonsense style, reliability and generosity.

Travelling all over the country and beyond to support her children’ s games has led to Nicola being asked to get involved in supporting other EIH initiatives, including as England team manager, Showcase and ‘This Girl Can’ events.

This additional time commitment has been appreciated by all the teams, players, coaches and families involved.

All of Nicola’s significant efforts have been commended by her multiple nominees.

Our Volunteer of the Month award was set up to recognise unsung heroes of the hockey community, and so we are delighted to give Nicola the recognition she deserves for her fantastic, ongoing contribution to hockey in Coventry.
