Volunteer of the Month: Wendy Corrigan

We would like to recognise Milton Keynes Junior Ice Hockey Club’s Wendy Corrigan, winner of our England Ice Hockey Volunteer of the Month award for October!

Wendy has been part of the MK Storm setup for over two decades and currently holds the position of registration and fixtures secretary, whilst also coaching the club’s Under 10s side.

She first became affiliated with the club when her children were growing up, and although they have since moved on to do other things, Wendy has remained committed to supporting the Storm in any way she can.

Those who nominated Wendy have pointed to her willingness to always go above and beyond to assist parents and players alike.

Her role within the club may have changed over the years, but her importance to junior hockey in Milton Keynes has remained the same.

When called upon, Wendy has also travelled across the country with the club’s age group players to ensure a sufficient number of coaches are present.

More recently, Wendy has added registration and fixtures to her volunteer workload. She does this not for personal recognition, but for her love of the sport.

She attends ever committee meeting and is the beating heart of everything good about MK Storm. As one one of her nominees stated so perfectly: “Nothing is ever too much for Wendy, and we would be lost without her.”
