NIHL round-up | April 11-13

The Planet Ice NIHL National Division playoffs came to an end over the weekend, with the make-up of the Final Four in Coventry now confirmed.

In Group A, Leeds Knights topped the pile as their quest for the treble continues.

The Knights were impressive 5-1 winners on the road at defending playoff champions Peterborough Phantoms on Saturday, in a result which mathematically confirmed their spot in the Final Four.

The Phantoms won the return fixture 5-3 in West Yorkshire, meaning the defence of their playoff silverware will go to the final weekend.

In the other Group A fixtures, Hull Seahawks won on penalties against Telford Tigers, who gained revenge the following night with a 9-7 regulation victory on home ice.

The Seahawks finish third in their group on six points, with Telford one point further behind.

In Group B, Swindon Wildcats completed a flawless playoff campaign as back-to-back wins against National Cup finalists Romford Raiders ensured they finished top of their group by a three-point margin.

They will be joined in Coventry by MK Lightning, who defeated Sheffield Steeldogs twice in regulation.

It has been a tough playoff campaign for the Steeldogs, who were the only side to go winless and pointless over the last three weeks of playoff action.
