England Ice Hockey strongly condemns the racist and discriminatory comments made on social media following an Elite League game. This behaviour is completely unacceptable and directly contradicts the core values of our sport.
We stand by our Scottish counterparts at the SIH in making it absolutely clear: racism, homophobia and any form of discriminatory or hateful behaviour will not be tolerated, online, in our rinks, or anywhere associated with England Ice Hockey.
We are proud to be a diverse, inclusive and welcoming community where players, staff, officials and fans from all backgrounds can enjoy the sport.
Anyone found engaging in racist, homophobic or abusive behaviour will face strict sanctions, including bans from all England Ice Hockey events.
In this instance, the individual involved has received a lifetime ban from the relevant arena, and the matter has been reported to the appropriate authorities. We remain firmly committed to providing a safe, respectful and welcoming environment for everyone.
Hate has no place in ice hockey, or anywhere else.
We thank our supporters and the wider hockey community for standing with us in upholding these values.
Hockey is for everyone.
