EIH to run trauma qualification for ice hockey medics

At the start of July, we are pleased to be running a pitch side trauma qualification specifically for ice hockey medics.

The PHICIS Level 2 pitch side qualification, endorsed by the Royal College of Surgeons, will take place at Tamworth’s SnowDome on Saturday 5 July.

This course is suitable for medics/therapists with previous knowledge and experience of medical practices.

PLEASE NOTE: This course is not for coaches/managers.

Course material will be delivered by a series of medical experts, including:

  • Chris Wilcox – Associate dean student experience, faculty of health services at the University of Hull
  • Bob Bramah – Lecturer on sports rehabilitation at the University of Salford
  • Jonty Ashton – Lecturer on sports rehabilitation at the University of Hull
  • Ali Emery – Senior lecturer on sports rehabilitation at St Mary’s University, Twickenham, and England Ice Hockey medical lead

“We strongly advise all medical and therapist staff to engage in a formal pitch-side trauma qualification,” Ali Emery said.

“At England Ice Hockey, we are committed to raising the standard of medical provision across the sport. Equipping our medics with the skills to respond effectively in high-pressure situations is a top priority.

“The PHICIS level 2 training offers essential, sport-specific trauma care tailored to the demands of ice hockey, helping us create a safer environment for all players.

“We’re proud to be able to offer this highly-regarded medical qualification within our sport.”
