Hull Seahawks became the first side to book their place in the NIHL National Cup final, on a thrilling weekend of league and cup action.
The Seahawks took a single-goal margin into their second leg trip to NIHL National Division leaders Leeds Knights on Friday night, and another incredible display saw them record their eighth successive win with a 5-1 thrashing on the road.
The Seahawks – who will be joined by either MK Lightning or Swindon Wildcats in the final – continued their fine run on Sunday, defeating Bristol Pitbulls 6-2 on home soil.
The Knights, meanwhile, ensured their weekend would end on a positive note by toppling Raiders IHC 4-1 at Planet Ice Leeds on Saturday.
They finish the weekend three points clear of MK Lightning, who closed the gap slightly thanks to back-to-back wins against Solway Sharks and Peterborough Phantoms.
Swindon Wildcats remain hot on MK’s heels, having picked up a four-point weekend of their own.
Their impressive recent home form continued with a 4-2 victory over the Phantoms at the Link Centre, before securing an overtime win against Raiders IHC the following day.
Elsewhere, Telford Tigers maintained their pursuit of the top five as they won 4-2 at Bristol Pitbulls on Saturday before securing a shoot-out win at home to Solway on Sunday night.
It was also a successful weekend for Bees IHC, who climbed to eighth in the standings after winning 5-3 at home to Sheffield Steeldogs on Saturday evening, then won the return fixture in overtime the following day.
