UK Ice Hockey Foundation appoint Chrissy Newman as regional manager, membership growth & development

The UK Ice Hockey Foundation (UKIHF), affiliated to Ice Hockey UK (IHUK), is delighted to announce the appointment of Chrissy Newman as regional manager, membership growth & development.

Newman joins the Foundation alongside Ferhat Tözünler, national manager of growth & development, as UKIHF
continues to expand its focus on participation, inclusion and sustainable membership growth across British ice hockey.

A former international player and experienced coach, Chrissy Newman brings a long-standing commitment to British ice hockey, with extensive experience across playing, coaching and community development.

She began her junior career in Basingstoke before progressing to represent Great Britain Women, earning 55 international caps.

Newman has remained closely involved in the development of junior and women’s ice hockey, supporting participation pathways and the continued growth of the game at grassroots and performance levels.

Alongside her hockey background, Newman has built a career in public health and community sport development, with a focus on increasing access to sport and addressing barriers to participation.

In her role with the UK Ice Hockey Foundation, she will work closely with clubs and partners to support membership growth, participation and volunteer development, helping to create inclusive, welcoming and sustainable environments that strengthen the grassroots foundations of the sport and supporting the long-term growth ambitions of the Home Nations.

Kevin McLaughlin, head of hockey development at UKIHF, said: “Chrissy brings a unique combination of international playing experience, coaching insight and community sport expertise.

“Her understanding of how to grow participation in an inclusive and sustainable way will be a real asset to the Foundation, and her work alongside Ferhat will play an important role in strengthening membership and engagement across clubs and communities.”
