We’d like to congratulate Oki Boolkah, who has been crowned England Ice Hockey Volunteer of the Month for November.
Oki has been heavily involved with Chelmsford Ice Hockey Academy for over a decade, operating in a variety of roles.
She has worked tirelessly to ensure the continued success of ice hockey in the area, supporting young players from the club’s ‘learn to play’ programme right through to the more senior teams.
Oki is described by one of her nominees as the “glue that holds the club together”, and it is a testament to her efforts at Chelmsford that she has been handed an honorary life membership by the club.
A former chairperson at the club, Oki is still heavily involved with the day-to-day running of Chelmsford through her various volunteering roles, and while her own children have since moved on from the club, she has remained.
During recent years, she has continued to ensure future generations of ice hockey players at the club reach their full potential.
It is through the unwavering dedication of volunteers like Oki that clubs across the UK continue to grow and thrive. Going above and beyond to support every young player that takes to the Chelmsford ice, she is a worthy recipient of this award.
